Ronald Leslie "Ron" Bell

It is with profound sadness, and deep respect that we announce the passing of Ronald Leslie (Ron) Bell, a beloved individual whose life was characterized by hard work, service, and an unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. Ron departed this world peacefully on March 14, 2026, in hospice care, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 79 years old.

Born on January 4, 1947, in Bay County, Michigan, Ron was the son of Ed and Grace Bell. From an early age he possessed a gentle, yet persistent stubbornness and a passion for rural farm life that would become his hallmark.

Ron was a graduate of Bay City Central High School, class of 1965, where he began to lay the foundations of a life marked by hard work and dedication. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Air Force, where he faithfully served until his honorable discharge in 1972. His time in the service was a source of pride, and he carried the values of duty and honor throughout his life.

In 1987, Ron married Janette (Jan) LaLonde, his beloved partner and confidante, for 39 years. Together, they created a favorite gathering spot for family and friends, filled with life, love and laughter.

For almost three decades, Ron dedicated his professional career to Michigan Bell as a skilled telecommunications technician that earned the respect and admiration of his co-workers.

For much of his life, Ron found peace and solace working the land, cultivating his garden and raising livestock. He had a special passion for horses which he bestowed upon his loving granddaughter. Often, he could be found working the garden with his companion and best friend, an old German Shepard named 'Satchmo' that never left his side.

Ron is predeceased by his parents, Ed and Grace, his siblings Beatrice Brandt (Bell), Donald Bell and Gene Bell, stepdaughter Billie Jo Evans, great step grandson Matthew William Evans, and great step granddaughter Devon Marie Schwannecke.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Jan, five children- Simon Bell, Patrick Bell, Dale Evans, Deborah Evans and Tony Evans, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held during the summer, which was his favorite time of year. Date and time to be determined. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com Arrangements made with Cremation Society of Mid-Michigan.
