There are many memories I could share with you today about Grandpa, although this one particular story is one of my favorites. One hot summer day, Aubrey, Rylin and I stayed back with Gramps while Grams went grocery shopping. While we were watching tv and hanging out, Grams finally arrived home and we all went to help with groceries. Grams bought ice cream and we were all super excited…especially Gramps. Gramps, Aubrey, Rylin and I all sat at the table with bowls and spoons ready to eat the ice cream. Meanwhile, Grams was still out in the garage getting more groceries from the car. We were all so hot and ready to eat the ice cream but Grams was very direct stating we had to be patient and wait to eat. Grams called for us girls to come out and help so we went into the garage to help her. Gramps had stayed put at the table eyeing the ice cream. I had stated “watch gramps be eating the ice cream” as a joke. While we weren’t gone long, we walked back inside and our mouths all hit the floor in surprise. Gramps had the tub of ice cream in front of him, spoon in his mouth eating the ice cream. We started hysterically laughing at Gramps as we caught him red handed. Now who knew he would be the impatient one? Grams was curious as to what was going on so she came in to see for herself. Next thing we know we were throwing gramps under the bus, calling him out for eating the tub of ice cream. Although, soon enough we were all laughing our butts off. After this day I learned that Gramps loved ice cream more than anything.

I don’t think there’s anything that grandpa loved more than fishing besides his family. I got the opportunity to see both of those loves combined when grandpa, my dad and I went out on the lake in his boat when I was a child. We get out into the water and setup the fishing rods on each side and camp out for a little bit since we weren’t getting any bites. All of a sudden we finally get a bite and grandpa shot up so fast to run to the other side you’d think that the boat got hit the way it started rocking. A little while later the other side got a bite and him and my dad go running to that side out of excitement and I was so scared that the boat would tip over so for the rest of the day I was running back and forth to the opposite side of the way they were going so I felt like I was helping the boat even out. I never saw someone so happy like the way grandpa was sharing his passion for fishing with his family.

Lastly…. While not aspiring to emphasize Kim’s dementia…. Kim had a beautiful full well lived life…. I find it poignant to always remember though we have lost Kim…. He lost so much more too soon….

An exquisite beautiful momento given to me by Darrell Lisa Katie and Shane and the wonderful caring colleagues in Katie’s firm. Katie’s law firm asked could they do a trap and skeet shoot competition to raise money for Alzheimer’s in honor of Kim. Specifically early onset.
I am humbly grateful to everyone that worked so hard to plan and execute as well as everyone who participated in such a worthy endeavor. Special recognition to Lisa.

Kim and I would fish four or five nights a week on the St. Clair river in the summer and ice fish four or five nights a week on Saginaw Bay in the winter . As you can see by how Kim is dressed it's not summer.

Each time I get the opportunity to fish the St Clair River I always think of Uncle Kim. We took a trip that I would never forget a weekend of camping, cooking out and fishing. It was the first time I had ever hand lined or even fished at night. We would get a good nap in during the day then load up the white Ford to make our way to the river with the boat. We caught a lot of walleye right by the blue water bridge which was so cool to see at night. It’s one of my favorite fishing memories and I am lucky to have it with Uncle Kim:

Sending my deepest sympathy to Kim's dear family and many friends. I worked with Kim's beautiful mom, Natalie, years ago st the Bank in Marlette.
When we moved to North Branch, we found that Kim and Sheila lived in the subdivision across the street. Kim was a just a wonderful gentleman. Sending prayers and hugs to his dear family.
