Obituary of Jerry A. Roller
Jerry Allan Roller, age 84, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away February 22, 2025, with his beloved sons at his side and is now rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
He was born in Flint, Michigan on July 5, 1940. He graduated from Reese High School in 1958, and married Virginia Bernice Kern on September 9, 1967.
His faith in Christ was the foundation of his life, guiding his actions, his love for others, and the legacy he leaves behind. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who found joy in spending time with his three grandchildren, Madison, Bryce and Paige. When he wasn’t attending their sporting events over the years, he was a loyal Michigan State fan. He also loved watching the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, or listening to them on the radio while he worked in his garage.
Jerry worked at Michigan National Bank in Saginaw and First of America Bank in Bay City for decades, before retiring from Duncan’s Outdoor Shop in Bay City. He was a charter member of New Life Missionary Church in Bay City, Michigan in 1987. Over the past 38 years he served the church in many capacities, including Head Usher, Treasurer, and as a Trustee board member.
He is survived by his two sons, Timothy Roller and Gregory (Jamie) Roller and three grandchildren, Madison Roller, Bryson Roller and Paige Roller. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Roller.
Jerry’s family would also like to acknowledge the amazing, and compassionate, care he received in the ICU unit of McLaren Bay Region hospital, specifically his primary nurses Mitch and Tyler.
A memorial service celebrating his faith and life will be held at New Life Missionary Church, 3121 E. North Union, Bay City, Michigan, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 am. The family will greet friends at the church from 10:00 am until service time. Pastor Tom Knight will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial gifts in Jerry’s honor be made to New Life Missionary Church to be used for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox ministry, which he and his late wife Virginia were very passionate about.
