Marilyn Rogers

Obituary of Marilyn Sue Rogers

Marilyn Sue Rogers

Durand, MI

(formerly of Flushing, MI)

Marilyn passed away February 21, 2025.  She was born November 12, 1944 in Flint, Michigan, to Roy and Arlene (Dodge) Myers.  She graduated from Flint Central High School. She married in 1966 and had two children, James and Jill Rogers.

She was a long-time member of Bristol Road Church of Christ in Flint, Michigan, and an active member of the choir, which performed throughout Genesee County, including Crossroads Village and Genesys Health Park. Marilyn was a stay-at-home mother for many years, wonderful at all things domestic and a fantastic cook. For several years she also took care of her grandchildren full time. She then worked at Meijer video and held seasonal employment at Bronners in Frankenmuth, both jobs of which she enjoyed very much. She then went on to work for Hager Fox kitchen shop in Swartz Creek. At the age of 59, Marilyn went back to school and became a CNA, caring for elderly at Maplewood Manor in Clio. She retired in 2017.

Everywhere she worshiped and worked, she made many friends. She was very well liked for her upbeat, witty personality. Her sarcasm was not for everyone, but never failed to entertain. She was a very hard worker. She was very generous and instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of giving your all to others. Her biggest joy in life was time spent with her kids, four grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She said her grandkids renewed her and gave her purpose. Their lives were so much richer because of her love.

She is survived by daughter, Jill Rogers (Jeff Gregg), son, James (Amy) Rogers, Granddaughters Brianna (Kenny), Brooke (Grant), Amanda (Anthony), Grandson Erik, Great-Grandchildren Kaden, Landon, Eidren, Levi, Kieran, Elliott, Genevieve, Lola, Kendrick, Avacyn, Kaizer and Emry. Special cousin and human diary Joan, bonus daughters Nanette, Angie; and several special nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Carol.
