Obituary of John Cannon Johnson
JOHN C JOHNSON (Pa Pa John)
Born September 12, 1951. in Honolulu, Hawaii. John grew up on the beautiful island of Oahu.
He succumbed to a long illness on March 8, 2025, John graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1970, where he excelled in sports. He worked at Sea Life Park & then in the Hawaiian Public school system for many years.
John married Doralene Widermann; their children are Kahala (Johnson) Gunion and Deja Johnson, step-stepdaughters Shawna Widermann & Corey Borges. John relocated to Missoula, MT in 2002, eventually meeting Peggy Eastman. They married in 2005 and relocated to Midland, MI to care for Peggy’s aging mother. John worked for Northwood University retiring in 2017
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph & Lelia (Cannon) Johnson; Wife; Doralene (Widermann) Johnson; Step-daughter Shawna Widermann & Brother-in-law Keith Schauf
John is survived by his wife, Peggy (Eastman) Johnson, sister Nancy Schauf, daughters Kahala (Johnson) Gunion and Deja Johnson, step-daughters Cory Borges and Chrystina Snyder, and stepson Benny Snyder.
Grandchildren AlonaRae Stevens and Kai Gunion, step-grandkids Ben Snyder II and Shelly, Martina (Snyder) Savoie and Alex, and Calista Snyder and Brandon Hernandez.
Step-great-grandchildren Dameon T Snyder, Alyssa, Emma & Samuel Savoie. Melina Kickingwomen, Kyler, McKenna,& Kycen Hernandez.
Nephew Aaron Schauf & family, Niece Molly Schauf & family.
John enjoyed surfing, road trips, and time with grandkids, nieces & nephews.
John's wish was to be cremated and returned to his island, Oahu. Thanks to Don and Doreen Greene, lifelong friends, for helping this to happen.
