Robert Piechotte

Obituary of Robert Merton Piechotte

Robert Merton Piechotte, known fondly as Bob by friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025.  He was born on August 10, 1943, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Beatrice and Ferdinand Piechotte.  Bob was raised in a full household that included 6 siblings - brother Ron and five sisters - Sandra, Barbara, Judy, Carol, and Patsy.  His life was a testament to the strength and closeness of family bonds. Though he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Melanie, brother Ron, and sisters Carol and Patsy, Bob's legacy of love and laughter continues through his surviving family. His devoted wife Linda, his children Bill, John, and Melissa, his sisters Sandra, Barbara, and Judy, along with eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, will forever cherish the memories of a man who was not only a husband, father, and brother but also a friend and mentor to all. Bob's commitment to his country was evident through his proud service in the United States Marine Corps. His adherence to the Corps' motto "Semper Fi" – always faithful – extended beyond his military service and into every aspect of his life. Upon returning to civilian life, Bob began a fulfilling career at Eaton Manufacturing in Saginaw, where he dedicated many years before retiring. His work ethic, loyalty, and camaraderie with his colleagues set an example that many aspired to emulate. Outside of work, Bob's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a man who embraced life with both hands. Affectionately nicknamed "Bluegill Bob" for his love of fishing, he was also renowned for his culinary skills, particularly his legendary pig roasts, earning him another moniker, "Sausage Bob," for his expertise in processing deer. Bob's infectious laugh, the "Piechotte laugh," could light up a room, and his passion for Detroit sports teams and the Michigan State Spartans was unyielding. A man of many talents, Bob bowled a perfect 300 game, enjoyed golfing, and relished the opportunities to travel and explore new places. Above all, Bob's role as a husband to his best friend Linda was a source of great joy and companionship. Together, they navigated life's adventures and challenges, always supporting one another. As a father and a Papa, Bob instilled values of kindness, perseverance, and humor in his children and grandchildren, creating a legacy that will undoubtedly be passed down through generations. Bob's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love, service, and joy. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to Bob, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a man who made the world a better place simply by being in it. His story does not end here, for it carries on in the lives he touched and the memories that will be treasured forever.  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan
