Obituary of Ann McLay Penman
Ann Penman, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 102, in Elsie, Michigan. Born on March 3, 1923, in Detroit, Michigan, Ann's life was a testament to her friendly nature and unwavering spirit. Ann's early years in Detroit were filled with the bustling energy of the city, but it was in Clawson, MI and Bonita Springs, FL where she made her lasting mark. She was the beloved wife of the late George Penman and the loving mother to the late Richard Penman (Karen), Mary Ann McDonald (Dane) and Linda Applebee (Shane) and twin sister to Mary Frisch. Ann's legacy extends through her 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Ann was also predeceased by a brother, William Blair and sisters, Margaret Westfall and Helen Cumming. Throughout her career, Ann was a dedicated employee at Eaton Corporation, where she retired after many years of service. Ann's passion for bowling was more than a hobby; it was a way for her to connect with friends and engage in friendly competition. Those who knew Ann will fondly recall her as the epitome of a loving, generous, and friendly soul. Her warm presence and the joy she brought to others will be deeply missed. If you asked Ann what her secret is for living a long and happy life, she would say, “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.”
