Dennis Haugen

Obituary of Dennis Lee Haugen

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dennis Lee Haugen, a loving father, grandfather, and proud veteran, who passed away on April 2, 2025 at the Saginaw VA Medical Center after a brave battle with cancer.

Dennis was born on June 19, 1950, in Compton, California, to the late Hilda and George Haugen. He is survived by his two daughters, Jessica (Andrea) Haugen and Amanda (Jake Munger) Haugen; his beloved grandson, Greyson Turmell; and his dear friends, Don Graham, Linda Graham, Penny Thompson, and Melanie Johnson Morrow.  Dennis was preceded in death by his three brothers, Dallas, Curtis, and Larry Haugen; and his good friends, Tom Barnes and Wes Plant. He held a special place in his heart for his dear friends and family, and his love for them was evident every day.

Dennis served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1968 to 1976 as a Combat Medic and Military Police. He was incredibly proud of his service and held the memories of those years close.

After his retirement, Dennis moved to Midland, Michigan, to be near his daughters, where he dedicated his days to spoiling them and his grandson.

Dennis loved telling a good joke, enjoying classic cars, and indulging in a root beer float with both chocolate and vanilla ice cream. He had a passion for western movies and could often be found tending to the barbecue.

Per the wishes of Dennis, cremation has taken place and no other services are being planned at this time. Although, family would love to find a time later on to celebrate his life with others.

Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His strength, warmth, and sense of humor will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Dennis Haugen, to the Aleda E. Lutz VAMC, Center for Development and Civic Engagement -135, 1500 Weiss St. Saginaw, MI 48602, GPF #1022 where Dennis received the care and support he needed in his final days.  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
