John was born right in the middle of the 20th century on June 1, 1950, in Detroit, where he spent his youth exploring the city. He passed away on April 23, 2025, in Auburn, Michigan.  In 1966 he met the love of his life, Mary Carroll. They were joined in marriage on April 3, 1970.  Together they worked hard to raise their three children and give them a life filled with love. 

There was nothing in life that John enjoyed more than family gatherings, bringing him a full driveway and a full heart.  He loved time spent at his little cabin in the woods and adventures with his beloved. 

John is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary, children John (Judy) Hunsinger, Rebekah (Jim) LaPan, and Megan (Kyle Friday) Keyser. Grandchildren Edmond and Abigail Hunsinger, Elizabeth LaPan, and Elijah and Lillian Keyser. Three younger siblings, Marcia, Eric, and his youngest brother Kurt with whom he shared a very close bond. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home, 700 N. Monroe St., Bay City, Michigan 48708.  

In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice.
