Obituary of Christopher Louis Lohr
Christopher Louis Lohr, a loving father and friend, passed away peacefully after battling cancer and heart disease at Carriage house Nursing home and Rehab on April 25th, 2025. Born on August 19th, 1961 in Bay City, MI. Chris's journey through life was marked by his loving nature, his helping hands and his thrill for adventure.
Christopher graduated from Western High School of Bay City. He had an interest in mechanics from a young age. He enjoyed working on dirt bikes, small engines and then moved up to automobiles. He became a mechanic in the early years after high school. Continuing the love for cars and his career until he retired from Belle Tire of Midland in 2019. He had a passion for working on everything from dirt bikes, boats and his true favorite, classic cars.
Chris was an avid outdoorsman. He was a dirt bike, speedboat and snowmobile enthusiast. Anything that could tear up a trail or kick up some dust, you could bet he knew a little bit about it. In his younger years, he enjoyed to go dirt bike riding at Bull Gap Hill. He enjoyed to visit his mother's home on Sanford lake. There he could be found fishing and cooking what he caught that day. When he wasn't under a car or working in the garage, he loved to watch movies. He loved campy comedies and movies with adventure. A favorite movie of his was Spaceballs! You can bet that each of his children were sat down once or twice to watch it with him. NASCAR races were another of Chris's favorite pastimes; he spent many years cheering on the racers and going to the track whenever he had the chance!
A little after his retirement, he took to the road with his Honda Goldwing any chance he could get. Driving around Michigan on a beautiful day to hit up a restaurant for a meal and ride back home before the sun set. Chris was a loving father who devoted his time to teaching his children how to cook, fish and play frisbee until it was too dark to see. He was kind and he was loving. He truly wanted his children to grow up loving something he taught them at young age.
Christopher is lovingly remembered by his sister Cindy (Steve) and his nephew Evan. He is survived by the mother of his children, Deborah Lohr. His children are Christopher Jr, Sarah and Chelby. Followed by seven grandchildren David, Tomas, Logan, Sophia, Carson, Kennedy, Evelyn and two great grandchildren Atlas and Violette. He is predeceased by his parents, Jacqueline (Donald) Blake and Robert (Alice) Lohr.
He faced his final adversaries—chronic kidney disease, congestive heart failure, and Prostate cancer metastatic to the bone —with the same courage and strength that characterized his entire life.
Chris was a great friend. He was the person you would call if you needed advice and he's the mechanic friend everyone wishes they had. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. We celebrate a life well-lived, a heart that didn't want to give up, and a man who made the world a better place simply by being in it. We bid farewell to Christopher but his story does not end here, for it carries on in the lives he touched and the memories that will be treasured forever.
