Obituary of Albert Jacob Denter, Jr.
Albert J. Denter, Jr., known by all as Jay, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, in Owosso, Michigan, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 12, 1957, in Brunswick, Georgia to Albert, Sr and Beverly (Hamling) Denter.
Jay graduated from Hemlock High School where he played basketball. Jay worked various jobs, but spent many years at Al-Par Peat before eventually delivering the Saginaw News, a job he held with pride until his retirement in 2024.
. He was a fan of WWE wrestling, and he could often be found watching the birds on his feeders. He also liked gardening and riding his quad on the trails in Gladwin.
Jay's absence will be felt deeply by his family and friends. In his passing, Jay leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but also a wealth of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Surviving are his wife, Shelby, stepson Scott Howard, sisters-in-law Denise (Dan) McPherson, Lorray (Bill) Platt, Gaelyn Fisher and his fur babies Spunky, Zoe and Doobie, and his piranha, Earl.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters-in-law Janet Thomas and Rondi (Steve) Smith and brothers-in-law Duane (Margaret) Miller and Arthur (Maria) Miller.
We say goodbye to Jay with heavy hearts, but also with a profound sense of gratitude for the time we were given with him Rest in peace, Jay. Your life will forever be cherished, and your memory will always be a beacon of light for all who knew you.
