Obituary of Trudy Lee Lindsey
Trudy Lee Lindsey, also known affectionately as Grams or Aunt Titts, has taken her final bow on the grand stage of life, born on April 8,1951 in the vibrant city of Lansing Michigan which was also the place she married her soulmate, James Douglas Lindsey on August 12, 1972. They shared 50 wonderful years together on this earth until his passing in November of 2022. Trudy's life was a beautiful melody that ceased to play on May 12, 2025, she departed from this world peacefully with loving family by her side, but not without leaving a lasting mark of love and laughter on the hearts of everyone she encountered.
Trudy was a magnetic force at the center of a large, adoring family, woven together as intricately as one of her cherished perennial flower gardens. Her pride and joy were her daughters - Mandie Allison, Taska Springs, and Sandra (William) Johnson; adopted sons, Lance Hughes, Michael Gilman, and Matt Grandy. Trudy was lucky to have many people that loved her, especially two women whom she considered her best friends on this earth, Debbie (Rod) Hoffman, and Jackie Bullard; along with many adopted family she encountered throughout her years. Their lives were enriched by her endless love and relentless humor. The bond she shared with her sisters, Linda Clever and Susan (Olan) Noe was similar to the sturdiest perennials that weathered the harshest storms. And let’s not forget her sisters-in-law, Sandra (Gene) Haynes and Effie Russel, who rounded out the bouquet of her life.
Like any proud matriarch, Trudy's eyes would twinkle as she spoke of her grandchildren, Frances, William, Douglas (Trysten), Martesha (Mikey), Jennifer (Pete), Zakary (Brianna), Jeffery (Megan), and Trudy. With 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with many adopted grandkids following in her footsteps; Trudy's legacy of love and laughter is what she left for everyone who encountered her on this earth.
When Trudy went through the gates of heaven’s doors, she joined many of her loved ones to celebrate that joyous day. Trudy was reunited with her parents, Lyle and Mildred Root; her brothers, Richard, Lyle, Gary, and Billy; her sister, Darlene; her sons, Jeffery Dean Allison and Gregory Springs; her nephew, Gary; niece, Holly; her grandsons, Danny James and Gregory Lee Springs; great-grandchild, Echo; as well as so many more she loved.
A graduate of Lansing Eastern High School in 1970, Trudy traversed the professional world with a heart full of passion, until she found her true calling as a home health aide for Haslett Manor, retiring in 1999. The lives Trudy touched through her work there, were similar to the countless flowers she tenderly cared for, nurturing them with kindness, brightening their days with humor, and always ensuring they stood a little taller when she left.
Trudy lived her life like a well tendered garden, always growing, never the same, and filled with unexpected bursts of joy. Her expeditions across America with her daughter Mandie and her sister Linda, were legendary - not all who wander are lost, but they probably are having more fun than the rest of us. Those who had the chance to huddle around a campfire at a backyard BBQ with Trudy, know that laughter was the main course, and everyone was family by the time dessert rolled around.
" A rose in full bloom is a reminder that even in loss there is beauty." To describe Trudy as loving, funny, and selfless hardly scratches the surface. Yet, even with all her spitfire energy, her heart and joyful personality is what truly set her apart. As a tribute to her sharp sense of humor, let's remember one of her quotes " I love your butt more than yesterday, less than tomorrow." Trudy lived her life embodying this approach, never missing an opportunity for a friendly hug, a good laugh, or a playful smile that lit up the room for all who entered her life.
Trudy Lindsey was a comedy show that never needed a punchline, because her entire existence was a joyful riot of teaching… like how to swallow a spaghetti noodle, sticky marshmallow fights, biting the middle of your sandwich just to see your reaction, or maybe you were one of the kids who got clothes pins on your back just at the place you couldn't reach. As we celebrate a life so wonderfully lived, we reflect on the happiness she brought to each of us, and the laughter that will live on in our memories. Though the final curtain has fallen for our beloved Trudy, her legacy is an encore that will resonate in the hearts of those who loved her for generations to come. A standing ovation, Trudy, for you have indeed stolen the show.
