Obituary of Andrew Joseph Barancik
Andrew Barancik, 93, of Chesaning, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025, at Chesaning Comfort Care. Andrew was born on June 27, 1932, to Andrew and Anna (Sujak) Barancik of Brant, MI.
He married the love of his life Joyce Buchholz on November 8, 1952. They celebrated 67 blessed years together until she passed away in March 2020.
He loved reading his bible and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
He served in the Army during the Korean War for 3 years, where he drove a tank, and fought on Pork Chop Hill. He was a decorated war veteran, and he received the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Ribbon, 1 Bronze Campaign Star, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a long haul truck driver, and received several awards for his outstanding driving and drove over 3 million miles accident free. He also owned B&D trucking company, where he owned his own fleet of trucks, which he hauled Hancor Tile for several years.
He always had a huge garden, and always kept it weed free. You could always find him there sampling his watermelons.
He loved traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, and going to Schuyler, NE, every summer to listen to his polkas, which was his favorite music.
He loved all sports, and was a huge Tiger and Lions fan. Most of all he just loved spending time with his family.
Andrew is survived by his children; Ellen (Ken) Weisenberger, Jeff (Terry) Barancik, Curt (Sue) Barancik, Jill Hankins, Sheila (Kevin) Bates, and one sister-in-law Barbara Tupica. Eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Anna Barancik, his brothers, Alec, Charles, Frank, Matthew, sisters Rose Burgess, and Margie Traverse. Brothers-in-law Fred Tupica, Howard Traverse, James Burgess, James Buchholz, and sisters-in-law Georgeann Buchholz, Mary Barancik, Maryann Barancik, an infant son David, and a grandson Joshua Barancik.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood St., Chesaning, Michigan 48616. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
