Obituary of Roger Joseph Wagner
Roger Joseph Wagner, known affectionately to all as Rog, was a beacon of light and love in the lives of those who knew him. Born on August 19, 1945, in the city of Saginaw, MI to the late Mr & Mrs Joseph & Lillian (Imker) Wagner, Roger was a man whose gentle spirit and kind heart echoed the teachings of Christ in every aspect of his life. On July 10, 2025, Roger was called to his eternal home leaving behind a legacy of love, artistry, and unwavering faith.
Roger's journey through life was marked by his unshakeable Christian values, which shone through in his every interaction. His life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of familial bonds. He leaves behind a loving brother, Rodney (Maria) Wagner, and was the cherished uncle to his nieces, Lillian and Madelyn Wagner, sisters Marlene (Jeff) Luptowski, and Peggy (Tom) LaVictoire. Each family member was touched by Roger's loving nature, and they all held a special place in his heart.
For 30 years, Roger served with dedication and a warm smile as a server at The Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his commitment to his faith, and he became a beloved figure among both his colleagues and the patrons he served. His bright blue eyes and Elvis grin lit up every room that he walked into.
Roger's love for the outdoors was a reflection of his appreciation for God's creation. An avid fisherman, he found peace and solitude in the simple act of casting a line, often reflecting on the beauty and vastness of the world around him. His love for the outdoors was paralleled by his passion for art. A talented artist, Roger's paintings were not just splashes of color on canvas; they were expressions of his soul. His artwork, which adorned numerous businesses in Las Vegas, was a testament to his ability to capture the essence of life's beauty.
His time on Earth was a tapestry woven with threads of joy, especially those moments spent with his beloved nieces, Lillian and Madelyn. They were the joy of his life, and in their company, he found his greatest happiness. To them, he was not just an uncle but a mentor, a friend, and a shining example of what it means to live a life full of love and kindness. Uncle Rog was Lillian & Madelyn’s very best friend! He was there for every moment in their lives and always just a phone call away. Uncle Rog taught them to live joyously, humbly, and how to catch the largest brook trout.
Roger held the most special part of his heart for his little brother and best friend Rodney. The two of them were inseparable and had a loving bond of brotherhood.
Roger’s sidekick was his sister in-law Maria. She was at Roger’s side through thick and thin, together they paved through all of the trials life threw at them and made unforgettable memories filled with love and laughter.
Roger was the epitome of a loving, kind, and gentle soul. These words, while simple, carry the weight of a life lived in service to others and to the Lord. He navigated life's trials with grace and emerged from each challenge with an even greater capacity to love. To know Roger was to experience a glimpse of the divine, for his life was a living sermon of hope and compassion.
In his passing, Roger leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but also a path brightly lit with the love he shared. His life was a journey of faith, a dance of joy, and a testament to the power of kindness. As we celebrate Roger’s life, let us carry forward his legacy, living each day with the same love and gentility that he embodied. Roger Joseph Wagner's story on Earth may have concluded, but his spirit continues to inspire and guide us toward the light of love and the peace of the Lord.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Roger and will be announced soon.
