Obituary of Benjamin Joel Blessing
Benjamin Joel Blessing, a man of few words but great depth, passed away unexpectedly July 11, 2025, at the age of 64. He was surrounded by his family he so dearly loved, leaving behind a legacy rooted in quiet strength, hard work, and unwavering devotion. Following Ben’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
Born November 23, 1960 in Saginaw, MI, Benny spent his life in Birch Run, living close to the land he cherished. A lifelong farmer, he found purpose in the soil, raising and setting with the sun, sowing not just crops but values of resilience, patience, and perseverance. To him, farming wasn’t just a livelihood- it was a way of life, a rhythm that shaped his character and grounded his spirit.
Though Benny wasn’t a man of many words, his actions spoke volumes. He was steady, reliable, patient, and deeply committed to his family. He raised his three children alongside his wife with love and integrity, teaching them by example what it means to work hard, stay humble, and care for one another. His grandchildren knew him as a gentle presence and quiet protector.
Benny believed in building something lasting that was not just with his hands, but through the generations. He took pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow into strong, kind, and capable individuals. He tended to his family the way he tended to his fields: with care, consistency, and a deep sense of responsibility.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Paula (Green) Blessing, his sister Kelly Blessing; his three children, Tracy (Tyler) Periard, John (Courtney) Blessing, and Emily (Hugh) Cuthbertson; and six grandchildren, Quinn, Blair, Bo and Wren Periard; Brock and Barrett Blessing, all of whom carry forward his legacy of kindness, humility, and strength.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Blessing and Kay (Kramer) Blessing; Mother-In-Law, Susan Gundry; Father-In-Law, Lawrence Green; Sister-In-Law, Norma Sue Crain.
