Obituary of Audrey Wilma Wilson
Audrey W. Wilson/Stone, known affectionately as Audrey to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in Vassar, Michigan. Born on October 20, 1930, in the small town of Bad Axe, Michigan, Audrey lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. Audrey's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Caro, Michigan, where she attended and graduated from Caro Community Schools. Her education laid a strong foundation for the resilient and hardworking woman she would become. Audrey's dedication to providing for her family led her to a fulfilling career as a cook at various restaurants and state facilities near Caro. Her love for cooking and serving others eventually culminated in her proudest professional achievement—owning and operating her own restaurant in Fairgrove, Michigan. Audrey's restaurant became a beloved local establishment, known as much for its warm atmosphere as for its delicious cuisine.
As a devout Christian, Audrey was an active member of the Vassar Church of The Nazarene. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she served on the church board, contributing her time and energy to the spiritual life of her community. Audrey's spiritual commitment was evident in her everyday actions, embodying the Christian principles of love and service to others. In her personal life, Audrey's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in the art of quilting. Her beautiful, handcrafted quilts were not only a testament to her skill but also a representation of the love she had for her family, as each stitch was imbued with care. Audrey's journey through life was shared with her beloved husband, Marvin E. Wilson, who preceded her in death. Together they raised a family that includes their sons: Jonathan D. Wilson of Breckenridge, David E. Wilson who passed before her, and Daniel N. Wilson of Swartz Creek. Their daughter, Rebecca S. Wilson Peters Phillips, settled in Stockbridge, Georgia. Audrey's siblings, Mable Hicks and Chester Stone, also preceded her in death, but she is survived by her sister Jeanette Curtis of Tigard, Oregon. She was also survived by 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren. Those who knew Audrey will remember her as a loving and faith-filled woman. Her ability to see the good in people and her unwavering support of her loved ones were hallmarks of her character. Audrey's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unshakable belief in the goodness of God. As we say goodbye to Audrey, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose and love. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Audrey's life story is a testament to the beautiful tapestry that one person's love and dedication can weave in the hearts of many. Her spirit will live on in the cherished memories of her family and friends, and in the community that she served so selflessly.
