Obituary of Robert Leon Gillette

Robert Leon Gillette (73), of Bay City, Michigan, formerly of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, surrounded by his family.  Robert was born on January 31, 1952, in Midland, Michigan, to the late Arthur Gillette, "Cookie" Geneva (Florey) McMillen and step-father Robert McMillen.

Bob enjoyed reading about military history, fishing and following all Michigan Sports teams. One of Bob’s favorite things to do was take a spur-of-the-moment road trip, and you could always guarantee that he would be the first person to jump in the pool each season.  Bob graduated from Midland High School in 1970 and retired from S.C. Johnson in 2013 after more than 40 years of service.

Bob is survived by his wife, Maryann, the love of his life, whom he married on May 5, 2005. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Shelley VanDusen (Tim Vito), Lisa VanDusen, and Jeff (Lisa) VanDusen; sister, Pat Ballard; brothers: Randy (MaryAnn) Gillette , Ken Gillette, and Scott (Paige) McMillen; his brothers-in-law, Jim (Linda) Miller , Lee (Bonnie) Kostus, Scott (Jeanne) Kostus; sister-in-law, Celeste (Tom) Heintskill; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends who will miss him dearly.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
