Duane George Quackenbush, a steadfast pillar of the Saginaw, Michigan community, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on April 3, 1945, in Saginaw, Duane's life was a testament to his enduring dedication to his family, his work, and his country.
Duane was the cherished son of the late George and Fern Quackenbush and a loving brother to Helen Camlin, Carl, and Ron Quackenbush. His legacy is carried on by his devoted wife, Diane, with whom he shared countless memories and adventures. His spirit is also celebrated by his son, Daren, and his wife, Tamara; his daughter, Erica, and her husband, Jesus; his adored grandsons, Garrett, Brenden, and Ethan; and his granddaughter, Eva, who brought immense joy to his life. Duane was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Dana, and his son, Jason. His furry companion, Reggie, was a source of constant comfort and friendship.
After graduating from Chesaning Union High School in 1963, Duane pursued higher education with vigor, earning an associate degree from Delta College and another in HVAC from Baker College. His passion for learning was only matched by his entrepreneurial spirit. Duane owned and operated Quackenbush Heating and Cooling until his well-deserved retirement. He also served his country with honor and commitment in the National Guard, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
A man of deep Christian faith, Duane lived his life guided by the principles of kindness, generosity, and compassion. He was a beacon of light to all who knew him and a steadfast supporter of his community.
Duane's interests were as rich and varied as his life. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and excitement in hunting and fishing. His love for military history was not just a hobby but a passion that he pursued through reading and traveling. Duane was particularly fond of vacationing in Copper Harbor, where he enjoyed the serenity of nature and the company of his loved ones.
Duane's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will be cherished through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely. His was a life well-lived, full of purpose and joy, and his influence will continue to be felt by the many lives he touched.
