Obituary of Franklin Joseph Slater
Franklin Joseph Slater, known affectionately by all as Frankie, lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and enduring connections. Born on April 4, 1963, in the small town of Alpena, Michigan, Frank's journey through life was one of purpose, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family and friends. On July 31, 2025, at the age of 62, Frankie passed away peacefully in Midland, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of love and community spirit.
Frankie spent his early years working alongside his father in the woods, learning the value of hard work and the beauty of nature. His career path later led him to become a well-known delivery driver for John Boys restaurant, a role in which he touched the lives of many with his punctuality and warm smile. Frank's willingness to lend a hand knew no bounds; he was always the first to offer support to anyone in need, embodying the true essence of generosity and care.
Family was the cornerstone of Frankie’s life. He is survived by his devoted brother, Toby Slater and his wife, Shawn; his beloved sisters, MariLou Reyna and her husband, Benito, and Shirley Slater; his cherished cousin Laurie; and his adored niece and nephew, MaryAnn and Patrick.
Frankie interests were as unique as they were a testament to his character. He found joy in the simple pleasure of conversing with truckers near and far on his CB radio, forming friendships and sharing stories across the airwaves. An avid listener to his police scanner, Frank was always in tune with the happenings of his community, a reflection of his deep-rooted concern for the welfare of others. His love for sports was more than a pastime; it was a way for him to connect with others and share in the thrill of the game.
Many thank you go out to those who helped in Frankie’s last days. John Boys restraunt has many people that fed him, cut his grass, gave him rides to appointments and cared deeply.
Thank you immensely
