My husband my love!
Curt’s life was a story of faith, love, and service. He never saw work as just work — at
Hidden Harvest, the people became like family to him. Whether in the warehouse or
greeting agencies, he always had time to talk, encourage, and pray with others. His
heart for people showed through everything he did.
He loved his worship music — sometimes playing it loud because the words spoke
straight to his heart. After retirement, his heart for service continued as he volunteered
at Eastside Soup Kitchen, where he found not just friends, but another family. No
matter where he went, he carried joy, encouragement, a smile, and a hug.
He was a man of many joys. As a father, he loved playing sports with his kids, hunting
with his son, fishing, camping, four-wheeling, and 3D shooting. When we became
empty nesters, we found joy in golf cart rides together. He also loved coaching
softball, where friendships quickly became like family.
But some of my most precious memories are the quiet ones we shared. He would put
on music, and one of his favorite songs was “If I Could Spend One More Day With
You.” We would dance together in the kitchen or living room. Sometimes he would cry,
and when I asked him why, he told me it was because the song reminded him of me.
We loved our little getaways — even a short trip up north or going out to dinner — and
we enjoyed spending almost every day together. Our love was special, our bond
unique, a blessing I will always treasure. We went to many Christian concerts,
laughed with friends, and filled our days with simple joys.
Curt’s love extended beyond our marriage. With our four amazing children, we were
blessed with three wonderful daughters-in-law and one wonderful son-in-law. They
have encouraged us, supported us, reached out, and helped us in countless ways.
They were — and still are — a true blessing that we hold dearly. And together, with
our church family, we shared a love and bond that strengthened us through every
season.
Through his journey with brain cancer, Curt faced three tumors. Twice he was
completely healed, and through that time God gave us the gift of more days together.
He grew into a man with an even more tender, thankful, patient, and forgiving heart.
He cherished every moment with his family — our four wonderful children, our eight
grandchildren, and the little one who now welcomes him in heaven.
Even when the third tumor came, he never gave up. His faith never wavered, and his
desire was clear: that his children and family would know Jesus, so that one day we
would all be together in heaven for eternity.
On the day God called him home, the Lord gave me the gift of being by his side as he
passed peacefully from this world into the arms of Jesus. There is no more pain,
sorrow, or heartache for him — only joy, love, and eternal peace. Along the way, God
gave us so many small miracles, blessings that I will never forget.
I also want to thank each and every person who has reached out with cards, words of
love, smiles, and small gifts. Your kindness carried us, and words could never fully
express my gratitude.
I know Curt would want us to go on, to keep making memories, to live with joy, and to
keep loving others. One day, when it is our turn to join him in heaven, we will take his
hand, sit down, and share our stories.
This is not goodbye — it is only “see you later.” His love endures forever, and he will
always hold a special piece of my heart. Until we meet again, all my love, Your Wife

My sincere condolences to Curt’s family. We met in 1977 when I hired him as a program assistant with the MSU Cooperative Extension Service 4H youth program. He was an excellent team member, having outstanding character and a pleasant personality. I last saw him over a year ago as he was with Hidden Harvest. He still showed his dedication in helping others.
The greatness in a man can always be measured by his willingness to be kind. Thank you kind sir your life glorified your relationship with the Lord!

Heartbroken to say goodbye to my friend and longtime Hidden Harvest teammate, Curt Hecht. Curt loved this work—rescuing food, helping our hunger relief partners, and being part of the mission every single day.
What made it even more special was watching him serve alongside his son, Tyler, and proudly pass the baton to him to carry on the work he loved so much.
Curt had a big heart, a quick smile, and a way of making the hard work feel like joy. I’m so grateful I got to serve with him. Sending all my love to the Hecht family.
