Obituary of Curtis Allen Hecht

Curtis Allen Hecht

March 1, 1955 – August 5, 2025

Curtis “Curt” Allen Hecht, 70, of Spaulding Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with stage 4 Glioblastoma.

Born in Saginaw, Michigan, on March 1, 1955, Curt was the son of the late Roy and Elaine Hecht. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Hecht. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Johna (Chapelo) Hecht; his children Landon (Mandilee) Hecht, Chad (Kenzie) Hecht, Tyler (Olivia) Hecht, and Leah (Blair) Spriggs; and his cherished grandchildren Sutton, Kinsley, Camdyn, Greyson, Benson, Tucker, and River. He is also survived by his siblings Shirley, Lori, Karen, Lee, and Todd, along with many extended family members and friends.

Curt’s professional life was marked by a profound commitment to service. For over 25 years, he worked at Hidden Harvest, where he was not just an employee but a member of a family united in the mission to combat hunger. Upon retiring in August 2023, he continued serving as a volunteer at East Side Soup Kitchen, where his work was a reflection of his unwavering dedication to his community and his compassion for those in need.

A devout Christian, Curt loved God with all his heart and was devoted to serving the Lord. His involvement with Old Town Christian Outreach was not merely about fellowship, but about living out the love of God he so passionately believed in. Curt wanted everyone to experience the love and grace he found in his faith, and he lived every day as a shining example of Christian values. His church family was a constant source of joy and encouragement to him.

Curt’s interests extended beyond his service work. He loved the simple pleasures of life—playing softball, hunting, fishing, and sharing laughter with those around him. His greatest joy, however, came from time spent with his family, who were the very heart of his world.

Those who knew Curt would describe him as a gentle soul, a friendly face in the crowd, and the epitome of kindness. His warm smile and genuine spirit brought comfort and encouragement to everyone who crossed his path.

Curt’s light touched countless lives, and while he will be deeply missed, his legacy of compassion, generosity, and faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was a remarkable husband, father, papa, and friend—forever loved and never forgotten.
