Obituary of Maxine Diane Fields
Maxine Diane Fields, known affectionately by all as Diane, departed this world on August 18, 2025, after a spirited 78 years that left laughter and love in her wake. Born on February 3, 1947, in Lapeer, MI, Diane never let the grass grow under her feet, or the paint dry on her canvas. She took her final bow in West Branch, MI, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant and nurturing as her beloved gardens.
Diane was the fun-loving Memaw who could turn a Sunday dinner into a comedy show and a crafting session into an episode of a sitcom. She had the uncanny ability to find humor in the little things, much like the late, great Robin Williams, who once said, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Diane certainly never lost hers, and it was this spark that made her the unforgettable character we all adored.
Her life was a tapestry of joyous moments, stitched together with kindness and laughter. She was the embodiment of love, always ready with a funny quip or a warm hug. Her sense of humor was as infectious as her passion for painting and crafting, where she created not just art but memories that her family will cherish. Whether she was in her garden, talking to her plants as though they were old friends, or among her animals, whom she adored as much as they adored her, Diane's spirit was as free and wild as the creatures she loved.
Diane's adventurous soul took her on travels, but her heart always led her back home to her family and the birds and animals that filled her world. She was the matriarch of a loving brood that includes her brothers Charles, Mason, and Troy; her children and their spouses, Dan and Kathy, Tammy and Ted, Cindy and Todd, and Sarah and Scott; her nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, and many foster children all of whom inherited her humor and zest for life.
She was preceded in passing by her brother Jody, her mother Bonnie, her father Mason, and the countless pets that she had loved and cared for throughout her life. Diane's Christian faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's ebbs and flows with grace and a smile always ready to light up a room.
Diane’s life was a testament to the power of laughter and love. As we bid her farewell, we smile through our tears, knowing that heaven has gained a comedienne who will have the angels chuckling in no time. In the words of the late Bob Hope, "I don't feel old. I don't feel anything until noon. That's when it's time for my nap." Diane, we trust you're taking that well-deserved nap in a place where the gardens are eternal, the animals talk back, and the paint never dries. Rest in peace, dear Diane, till we meet again.
