Obituary of Deborah Jane Moncman

In Loving Memory of Deborah Jane Moncman

Deborah was the heart of our family, the one we all turned to for love, wisdom, and comfort. She passed away on September 12, 2025 at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of care that will never be forgotten.

She spent her life raising children, not only her own, but foster children who found safety, guidance, and unconditional love in her home. To each child, she gave more than shelter; she gave a sense of belonging. Her compassion reached even further as she became the go-to babysitter for nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and family friends. Whether for a few hours or a few years, every child who crossed her path was treated like one of her own.

As the matriarch of our family, Deborah was the glue that held us together. She hosted gatherings, started traditions, and made sure no one ever felt alone. Her kitchen table was more than a place to share meals. It was a place to share stories, laughter, and sometimes tears. She was the voice of reason, the steady hand, and the open arms that kept us grounded.

And of course, the kids will never forget her bubble-blowing magic. With a simple wand and a bottle of soap, she could turn an ordinary afternoon into a world of wonder. Watching little faces light up as bubbles floated through the air was one of her greatest joys and one of her many ways of reminding us that happiness is found in life’s simplest moments.

She had a gift for finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether she was out garage sale-ing in search of a good deal, baking up a fresh batch of cookies to share with loved ones, or gathered around the table playing cards, she brought laughter, warmth, and a sense of togetherness to everyone around her.

Her life was not measured in possessions or titles, but in the countless lives she touched and the love she gave freely. To know her was to know kindness, patience, and strength.

She leaves behind a family who will miss her dearly and carry her lessons forward: her husband of 54 years Edward, daughter Rachelle (Bill) Strasburg, grandchildren Miranda Strasburg (Jerek) and Nathan Strasburg (Madalynn), great grandchildren Anna, David and soon to be Lena Jane (grandma’s namesake), siblings Karen (Dan) Rogers, Rick (Carol) Haskin, Margo McCrory, and Brenda Cheshire, step mother Beverly Haskin and many nieces and nephews. Though she is no longer with us, the warmth she brought into our lives will continue to guide us.

In her passing, she is embraced once again by her parents Richard Haskin and Mary Bucher, siblings Barb, Janet, Ronny, Ralph, Mike and Leslie Jo, her girls Bethany and Tina, and also special friends Norma Proctor, Nancy (Hilts) Kreger and Isabell Krieger, who left this world before her.
