Obituary of Michelle Leigh Vlassis

Michelle Leigh (Patterson) Vlassis, a beacon of loving kindness and friendship, passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 51 in her hometown of Owosso, Michigan, after a courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer. Born on April 3, 1974, in the same close-knit community she cherished throughout her life, Michelle's presence was a constant source of joy and comfort to those she touched.

A graduate of Corunna High School in 1992, Michelle's work ethic and friendly demeanor were evident early on. Her career journey began at Hardee's, where she first learned the value of hard work and service. Michelle then transitioned to Chemical Bank, where she honed her skills in the financial sector. Not one to shy away from hard work, she simultaneously managed positions at Wicks Lumber and Staples. Her nurturing spirit shone brightly during her time at Corunna Public Schools, where she dedicated herself to the children in the lunchroom. Michelle concluded her professional journey at Wal-Mart, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and kindness.

Beyond her work, Michelle's life was rich with love and devotion to her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Vlassis, and their children, Leigh Anne, Andrew, and Zackary. Although their son Aaden preceded her in death, his memory remained a guiding light in her life. Her role as a mother extended to her grand dog, Aspen, who brought additional joy to her days. Michelle was a cherished daughter to Michael and Marilyn (VanRiper) Patterson, a supportive sister to Jeff Patterson and Kelly (Patterson) Gilman, and a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Her friendships were a testament to her incredible capacity for love and camaraderie. Treasuring relationships like family, Michelle held an unwavering bond with Beth (Lincoln) Reichert, Julie (Everhart) Barnhill, and Heather (Hallett) Thomas, as well as many other lifelong friends. She was the heart of every gathering, infusing each moment with warmth and laughter.

Michelle's Christian faith was a pillar of strength throughout her life, guiding her actions and her approach to the world with grace. Her interests and hobbies reflected her love for adventure and family. She delighted in camping trips, exploring new lighthouses, and discovering quaint towns. Family and friends eagerly anticipated her legendary Christmas gatherings where games, laughter, and love filled the air for days on end. Hosting parties was not just a pastime for Michelle; it was a way for her to celebrate the relationships that she valued above all.

Those who knew Michelle will remember her for her remarkable love, her unwavering kindness, and her ever-present friendly smile. Her life was a testament to the beauty of fostering deep connections and cherishing every moment. Michelle Leigh Vlassis was a true friend, a devoted family member, and a light in the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will be eternally cherished and her spirit will continue to inspire love and friendship in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
