Obituary of Mary Lou Fischer

Mary Lou Fischer, age 85, passed away on October 7, 2025, in Bay City, Michigan, where she was born on November 25, 1939. Mary Lou was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Mary Lou grew up in Akron, Michigan, where she attended Akron High School, graduating in 1957. Her life was a rich tapestry woven with love and dedication, particularly evident in her 66 year marriage to her beloved husband, Dwayne Keith Fischer, who predeceased her. Together, they raised a family that was the center of her world.

She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Mark (Karen) Fischer of Unionville, and Keith (Diane) Fischer of Unionville. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Amy Fischer of Bay City; son-in-law, Gary (Veronica) Bruce of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Joel (Janel) Fischer of Unionville, Jared (Lauren) Fischer of Essexville, Bree Ann (Josh) Case of Kentucky, Beau Bruce of Kentucky, Tyson Fischer of Florida, and Kelly (Kyle) Norton of Michigan; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Avery Case, Evelyn Hudson, Jacob and Lucas Fischer, and Cade and Quinn Fischer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Bernadine (Biles) Kramer; daughter, Nancy (Fischer) Bruce; son, Chris Fischer; and granddaughter, Bess (Bruce) Hudson.

Mary Lou was the heart of her home, a homemaker, and a farm wife who played an active role on the family's farm. Her hands, always busy feeding and nurturing, were an extension of her enormous heart. She lived a strong Christian faith, becoming a prayer warrior who not only prayed with conviction but also shared her faith with a gentle and persuasive grace.

Her ability to listen with empathy made her a friend to many, and her capacity to forge friendships with ease was a gift that made her community richer. Mary Lou's life was a journey marked by service above self. She demonstrated this through her unwavering support of her family, her tireless work on the farm, and her commitment to her faith and community. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to those around her, and her ability to enjoy people and life's simple pleasures was contagious.
