Obituary of Carolyn Louise Fath
Carolyn Loise (Swartz) Fath, of Sanford, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at the age of 84.
Carolyn was born on October 18, 1940, in Turner, Michigan, to Henry and Anna (Good) Swartz. She graduated from Arenac Eastern High School.
Raised in a close-knit Mennonite farming community, Carolyn’s deep love for family was evident throughout her life. She spent much of her career in the service industry, working in roles such as a nanny, salesperson, cashier, and server. Of all her roles, her favorite was being a mother—a role in which she poured her heart and soul. She adored her grandchildren and found daily joy in her great-grandchildren.
Carolyn had a passion for cooking and baking, often contributing to community events and benefit dinners. She never turned down a good chili cook-off and proudly took home first-place honors in many competitions.
She also enjoyed mud bogs, rodeos, and especially dancing to country music with her beloved husband, Chris. Together, they lit up every dance floor they graced and were a joy to watch.
Carolyn will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and warm, welcoming spirit. She found happiness in connecting with others, sharing laughter, and celebrating life’s moments—both big and small.
Carolyn is survived by her loving children, Andrew Miller and Andrea Holcomb (Joseph); grandchildren, Brooke Colley (Thomas) and Blake Holcomb; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Hudson Colley. She is also survived by her sister, Esther Stutzman, and her cherished bonus daughters, Sandy Deichert, Cristal Curtis (Howard), and Charlene Fath.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Christopher Fath; her son, Aaron Miller; her brothers, Henry Jr. Swartz and Art Swartz; and her sister, Wilma Swartzentruber.
Cremation has taken place. A small family gathering is planned, followed by the scattering of Carolyn’s ashes—along with her husband Chris’s—at the family farm, a place that held deep meaning to them both.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Carolyn’s memory are invited to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
