Patricia Kubik

Obituary of Patricia Lynn Kubik

Patricia Lynn Kubik, age 66, of Saginaw, passed away Thursday October 16, 2025 after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer.  She was born March 8, 1959, the daughter of Yolanda (Castillo) Ortega and the late Oscar Ortega.

Patricia was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 37 years, Timothy Kubik.  Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Erik Kubik (Lonnie); step-daughter, Kriss Baldovino (Artuz); three grandchildren, Vincent, Nik, and Jake; fur babies, Lilly Rose & Harper; siblings, Greg Ortega, Jim and (Kelly) Ortega; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Russell Kubik, Mary Kubik, and Michael Kubik; nieces and nephews, Sean, Ryan, Scott, Brian, Thomas, Beth, and Jeff; and many great-nieces and nephews. Being part of a large extended family, also surviving are many aunts, uncles, and cousins that were a major part of her life.  Patricia was predeceased by her father, Oscar Ortega; her father and mother-in- law, Gerald and Wanite Kubik; and sisters-in-law, Lori Kubik and Julie Ortega.

Patricia loved her day trips and going to Horrock’s and Ikea. An avid gardener, she also loved going to estate sales.  Patricia loved walking her dog Lilly Rose, and spending time with her cat Harper.  Family was very important to her and spending time with them, including watching U of M & Lions football games at Jim & Kelly’s home with family.  Patricia was in her happy place and found peace, solace, and joy, going to Pratt Lake in Gladwin with her best friend of 51 years, Lisa Garchow.

Patricia, born in Saginaw, Michigan, graduated from Douglas MacArthur school class of 1977.  She started her career at NBD bank, and also worked for Krogers.  She went on to own her own business doing daycare from her home. Patricia then started working at St. Francis Home in various positions, for 24 years, until her recent retirement.  She made many friends during her employment, remaining close to many even after retirement.

Patricia was a kind, gentle, caring woman with a strong spirit, who would do anything for those she loved.  She was fiercely protective of Erik and everyone that she called family.

Patricia will be greatly missed by many people that loved her dearly.

Patricia will be cremated and there will be no service at this time.  However, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to GoFundMe, that will help with the Celebration of Life and other medical expenses.  https://gofund.me/f9c74eb0d  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
