David John Franceschina 

March 18, 1952 - October 19,2025 

David J. Franceschina, age 73, of Bay City passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, after losing the battle to pancreatic cancer. David passed away at home surrounded by the love and support of his family.

David was born on March 18, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan to Calisto and Adeline (Schwartz) Franceschina. David graduated from Bay City Central High School and later received his Associate Degree from Eastern Michigan University in criminal justice.

David's passion in life has always been to help other people and because of this he chose a career as a police officer serving others for over 35 years. David served the majority of his career as a Sergeant at the Buena Vista Twp. Police Dept. He also worked at Hampton Police Dept., and the St. Charles Police Dept. David's other passions included spending time with his family and friends, collecting guns, riding motorcycles, dogs and watching FOX news or the history channel.

David is survived by Patricia, his wife of 34 years; daughter, Rachel (David) Hoffman; son, Tony (Tina) Franceschina; daughter, Cala Franceschina; and son, Shaun (Grace) Franceschina; grandchildren, Gia Franceschina, Soriya Franceschina, Harper Hoffman, Theo Smith, and Owen Franceschina. David also leaves behind a brother, Terry Franceschina; and his beloved sister, Shelly (Jim) Bommarito.

David was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Ethan Hoffman with whom he is spending time with now; his sister, Mary Kiesel; and a brother, John Franceschina.

At David’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on November 15, 2025 at 1 PM, at Essexville Community Church, 1001 Main Street, Essexville Michigan, with pastor Joe Atchinson officiating. Visitation will take place at church prior to the service from 11AM until 1PM, with a luncheon following the service.
