Obituary of Exie May McKone
Exie May Taylor-McKone, age 90, of Morrice, Michigan, passed away on the morning of October 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Exie was born January 26, 1935, to Milford and Betty Tufts-Taylor of New Lothrop, Michigan. She graduated from Chesaning High School with the class of 1953.
Exie married her high school sweetheart, Jack Cecil McKone, and they remained devoted partners for 61 years until his passing in 2014. She worked as a licensed beautician, running a successful home-based business that brought both beauty and comfort to many in her community, and family.
As a farmer’s wife, Exie lent a helping hand wherever needed and lovingly tended a vibrant garden filled with flowers that drew birds to her kitchen window—a quiet joy she cherished daily.
A lifelong and devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Exie deeply loved Jehovah, our Lord Jesus Christ, and her church family. Her home was a place where Bible study was as comforting as a hot meal, and where faith and fellowship were always welcome.
Above all, Exie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt. She welcomed anyone in need of love with gracious warmth and heartfelt generosity. Her presence was a gentle embrace, and her home a haven of kindness and care.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Angie) McKone, Barbara McKone-Gallagher, and Deborah McKone-VanDusen; grandchildren, Marie (Andy) Proudfoot-Maciejeski, Adam (Kristin) VanDusen, Valerie (Jesse) Proudfoot-Ford, Stephanie VanDusen, Danielle (Travis) Dolby, and Chase (Melissa) McKone; great-grandchildren, Zach (Melissa) Fanko, Taylor (Lauren) Zachar, Karsun Proudfoot, Amanda VanDusen, Dominic VanDusen, Elly Krause, Marleigh McKone, Oakland McKone, and Lily Peto; great-great;-grandchildren, Lillian Fanko and Leonetto Fanko; siblings, Nancy Taylor-Kreinbrink, Daniel Taylor, and Mark (Kathy) Taylor; brothers-in-law, Duane Bell and Mike Cookingham; sister-in-law, Bonnie Macaulay-Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
