Joseph Pedota

Obituary of Joseph Anthony Pedota

Joseph A. Pedota passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the age of 82.  He was born August 15, 1943 to the late Joseph Richard and Genevieve Rose (Burda) Pedota in Illinois.  Joe and his loving wife JoEllyn had lived in Standish, Michigan for almost 50 years.  Joe retired from the GM Bay City Powertrain plant in 2005 with almost 30 years of service in skilled trades.  He had a great number of hobbies which included a professional hunting dog trainer of Brittanies and English Setters from Kimberlan Kennel in his backyard.  He also raised and released pheasants in the area whose offspring still habit the area.  In retirement, Joe also became a charter boat captain and spent many summers cruising the waters of Lake Huron based from both Presque Isle and AuGres over the years.  He loved fishing for salmon and walleye in his boat the 'Pocket Yacht' which he famously explained was the biggest boat his pocketbook could afford.  Joe was also an accomplished and self-taught painter.  He specialized in landscapes and painted from photos and memories of all his favorite locations and sites over the years. Once he gave up fishing, he took great pride in attending to his goldfish pond with several varieties of fancy tails.

Joe was predeceased by his wife, JoEllyn (Lawson) Pedota, his brother Richard Pedota and both his parents. He is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer (John) Rezler;  Jennine (Scott) Muxlow, and Jessica (Michael) Thering; grandchildren Jacinda (Robert) Roest, Joseph Rezler, Brian Thering, Caitlin Thering, Evelyn Muxlow; great grandchild Luka Roest; nephews Richard Pedota, Darien (Brenda) Pedota, and Christopher Pedota; great nephew Nolan Pedota and great nieces Coralyn Pedota and Alexa Pedota.
