Obituary of Sharon Joy Gardy

Sharon Joy Gardy, the eldest daughter of Harold and Florence (Wood) Korthals passed away at Heritage Hill Assisted Living on November 10, 2025.

She was born on November 2, 1938, graduated from Vassar High School in 1957, and from Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing in 1961.  She worked in that field for the next 36 years.

In June 1963 she married Maxwell P. Gardy and together raised 3 daughters, Heidi Gardy of Spokane, WA, Holly Taylor of Grand Blanc MI, and Heather Gardy of Marana, AZ.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mayville and the Ladies Aid.

Besides their girls, she leaves behind 2 step-children, Chris P Gardy and wife Kelly of Millington and Terry Gardy and husband Jerry Pillen of Fernandina Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Zachary Clyne, Timothy Skarbek, Stephanie and husband Jared Rizer, and Ezekiel and Elijah Gardy; two great- grandchildren, Elizabeth and Zayden.  She was predeceased by her husband Max after 49 years of marriage.

She wishes to thank all the staff for their wonderful care at Heritage Hill.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am, November 22, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church 6115 First St., Mayville MI.  The family will receive friends at church prior to the service from 10 am until the time of the service.
