Obituary of Herbie Smith

Herbie Smith

St. Louis, Michigan

Herbie passed away on November 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.  After struggling with heath issues most of his life, his sons and sister continued Herbie’s generosity by sharing him with others through his organ donation to Gift of Life.  His sons stated that Herbie was always a giving man and would agree with giving the gift of life to others. Herbie would be so pleased that his gifts were made available to two kidney recipients and a liver recipient. Herbie was and continues to be very proud of his sons.

Herbie was born on March 20, 1981, in Carson City Michigan to his happily married parents, Gary and Noreen Smith. In his free time, he spent hours drawing at his kitchen table, jamming to music, and always cheating at Yahtzee. Herbie collected many things, most notably, his Superman memorabilia, hats, and his fascination with Marilyn Monroe. Herbie loved time spent with his family, friends, and loving girlfriend Breeona Andrews. When his boys reminisce, they remember him as being the funniest person and always putting a smile on their faces...that’s what they loved most about him.

He is survived by his sons, Jaycup Smith of Mount Pleasant and Jonathon Smith of Alma Michigan; siblings, Gary (Johnna) Smith of St Louis, Hilda (Scott) Quick of Merrill, Ronald Smith of St Louis, and Steven (Bethany) Smith of Elwell; nephews and nieces that loved him, Bradley (Ally) Quick, Joseph Quick, Ryan Quick, Darren Smith, Nathan Smith, Nicole Smith, Hunter Smith, Nikia Smith, Ivy Cermak, Ada Smith, Aj Komperda, Kaydee Komperda, Allie Komperda, and Koda Pardee; many cousins and friends; best friends since childhood, Mathew Harris, Steven, and Kristina Moore and family. He was predeceased by one of his best friends, Ramon Pittman, who passed away on November 6, 2016.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 12 Noon – 4 PM at the Pine River Township Hall, 1495 W. Monroe Road, St. Louis Michigan. We thank God for our time with him, and smile and appreciate the time we still have with each other. Thank you to everyone who has provided support for Herbie and the family.
