Obituary of Benjamin Edward Brummer
Dr. Benjamin Edward Brummer, D.D.S., known as Ben or Doc to his friends, passed away on November 19, 2025 at the age of 85 in Standish, Michigan. Born on October 9, 1940, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Dr. Brummer's life was marked by dedication to his family, his profession, and his community.
After earning his undergraduate degree and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan, Ben served in the US Navy at the Marine Corp Base in Quantico, Virginia. Following his military service, he established a dental practice in Standish, where he served the community with care and expertise for 50 years, retiring at the age of 79.
Ben's sense of duty extended into involvement with numerous associations including American Dental Association, Standish Sterling School Board, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, University of Michigan Regional Admissions Advisor, Standish Kiwanis Club where he served a term as President and Lt. Governor of Division 18 of Kiwanis International. He also dedicated time to coaching Little League Baseball.
Dr. Brummer's dedication to his family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a loving husband to his wife Audrey for 60 years, and a devoted father to his children, Matthew who predeceased him (married to Tammi), Mary Alice Salo (married to Scott), and Mark (married to Amy). He had six cherished grandchildren, Dennis, Dawn (married to Garrett), Andrew, Jack, Benjamin W., and Christopher.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing cards. His playful spirit shone brightly when flying kites and engaging in activities with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
A memorial service and Mass to celebrate Ben's life will be held at a later date at Resurrection of the Lord Parish in Standish, where friends and family can gather to share stories, and honor his memory.
