Obituary of Shirley Ann Patrick
Shirley Ann Patrick, a beacon of love and generosity, completed her earthly journey on November 30, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of her family's love in Bay City, Michigan. Born on August 31, 1939, in Cheboygan, Michigan to her parents, Julius Tolsdorf and Hazel Sova Tolsdorf.
Shirley was a woman of deep Christian faith, which guided her every step and comforted her in her final days. Her life was a reflection of the love she had for her Lord. She had a loving nature, a generous heart, and a thoughtful mind, touching the lives of all who were blessed to know her. She graduated from St. Mary's high school in Bay City. She continued her education at Mercy College in Detroit, where she earned two degrees, which she put to use in her cherished career as an elementary school teacher and Title One educator in Florida.
She dedicated her life to nurturing young minds, instilling in her students a love for learning that would last them a lifetime. Shirley's dedication to education and her students was strong. Shirley had a love of traveling, with many a stories from her delightful cruises and visits to casinos. Shirley collected stamps from several national parks in the U.S. She was the life of any gathering, often hosting family and friends in Florida, where laughter and joy were shared abundantly. In her younger years, Shirley found joy in golfing alongside her dear husband, creating cherished memories on the greens under the Florida sun.
Her life was a shared journey with her beloved spouse, the late Donald F. Patrick, with whom she walked hand in hand until his passing. Together, they shared a life of love and mutual respect. Shirley also held dear the memory of her sister, Barbara Jebb, who predeceased her. Shirley's legacy continues through her loving family: her sister June M. Banks and her husband Roy, her sister Patricia Laframboise, her brother Michael Tolsdorf and his wife Vicky, along with many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. As we bid farewell to Shirley we are comforted by the knowledge that she is now at peace with the Lord.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Shirley's story does not end here, for her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched, in the lives she shaped, and in the love that will never fade.
Her family would like to thank the caring staff of Symphony Tri-cities where she resided for six years and Heartland Hospice who made her comfortable for her last days. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. She will be laid to rest per her wishes with her husband, Don, at Bushnell National Cemetery in Florida.
