Obituary of David Joseph Schopieray

David Schopieray passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2025. David was born on August 7, 1940, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Ruth Schopieray. He graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 1958 and married Jean Smith in 1959. David raced motorcycles in the ’60s and ’70s. He took pride in using his mechanical skills to help the next generation of racers, including his two sons. He was a Master Mechanic at General Motors. After 30 years, he retired from Buick Experimental.

David is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Don (Lynn) Schopieray, Gordon Schopieray, and Bethany (Mike) Bleau; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, JoAnn Inman. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
