Amelia Matthews

Obituary of Amelia Mascorro Matthews

Amelia Matthews, 70, of Unionville MI, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Amelia lived a life shaped by love, generosity, and quiet strength. To know her was to feel welcomed, cared for, and truly seen. She had an easy way with people—outgoing, friendly, and never afraid to stop and talk. A simple conversation could turn into a meaningful connection, because that’s who she was. Her warmth stayed with you long after you parted ways.

On September 8, 1984, she married the love of her life and soulmate, Michael. Their marriage was one of deep love, laughter, and companionship. They shared a beautiful relationship built on mutual respect, playful banter, and an unmistakable devotion to one another. Whether they were teasing each other, taking quiet rides together, or simply enjoying the comfort of being side by side, their love was always clear. Michael will miss her deeply, and their bond remains a testament to a love that never fades.

Family was the heart of her world. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends, and she showed that love in countless ways—by showing up, by listening, and by always being there when she was needed. There was truly nothing she wouldn’t have done for her husband, her kids, or her grandkids. Her love knew no limits.

She adored her grandchildren and delighted in spoiling them—always keeping their favorite snacks on hand and making sure they felt cherished. Time spent with them was time well spent, and she treasured every moment.

She carried a deep love for her daughter, Michelle, whom we lost a year and a half ago. Their bond was profound and unbreakable. Losing Michelle devastated her, and she carried that grief quietly, with the same strength she carried everything else. It brings comfort to imagine that they are reunited now—together again, whole and at peace, wherever it is that we all go after this life. The thought of them finding each other again brings light to a place of deep sorrow.

She found joy in the beauty of everyday life. She loved gardening and planting flowers, nurturing things as they grew. She and Michael enjoyed taking rides together, watching geese with their babies and noticing whatever wildlife crossed their path. She loved taking pictures—especially of fall trees glowing with color and of any beautiful flower she happened to find—capturing the beauty she saw everywhere.

She had a remarkable talent for rummaging through second-hand stores, always managing to find exactly what someone needed. She took joy in giving those treasures to family and friends, especially when someone needed a little help. If you were searching for something, she was the one who could find it.

She was also the family barber—cutting Michael’s and her granddaughter Saphira’s hair with love and care. She loved camping, fishing, dancing to cumbias with her family, and being present for every shared moment.

Cooking and baking were another language of her love. She made unforgettable meals for her family, including the best Mexican beans and rice—something that will be dearly missed at family gatherings. Food was never just food; it was comfort, connection, and home.

She was strong, independent, beautiful, and kind. Her laughter was contagious, and the easy, loving banter she shared with Michael could turn any moment into one filled with joy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her children; her grandchildren; and a circle of family and friends who will carry her love forward.

Though her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, her presence remains—in the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the memories we hold close. She will live on through her family, through every act of kindness inspired by her example, and through the love that continues to bind us together.

She will always be remembered, always missed, and always loved.
