Obituary of Betty Jo Mietz
Betty Joe Mietz (Wells)
Mayville, Michigan
Formerly of North Branch and Port Charlotte Florida
Went to her heavenly rest Monday December 22, 2025.
She was born on August 4, 1926 in Caro Michigan to the late Joe and Lillian (Byington) Wells.
She grew up in the Caro/Mayville Area. Betty met and married the love of her life Leo in October 1948 they were together 60 years until his passing. She and Leo raised 5 boys on a farm in North Branch and later became the owners of Mietz Furniture in North Branch where she also worked. Betty was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in North Branch, Mayville, and Port Charlotte Florida.
Betty had several hobbies that she enjoyed. She and her late husband Leo enjoyed playing Euchre and Pinochle at the local Golden Years Club in Mayville and bingo just about anywhere she could. Locals may have one of many of her crocheted works which were stunning and plentiful, including hand towels, blankets, and many other items. She also loved to coordinate outfits for the seasons. No holiday went without some type of matching outfit. T-shirts, sweatshirts, and shoes were always matching!
Betty is survived by her sons Dennis of Adairsville GA and Gary (Renee) of Unionville, MI as well as 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and a special friend Paul Moore.
She was predeceased by her parents and 8 siblings, husband Leo and Sons Elezar and wife Garnet (Berry), Leo Jr. and Gordon, Grandson David.
