Obituary of Preston Lee Taylor
Preston Lee Taylor, known affectionately as Preston to his family and friends, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 70, due to heart failure in Bay City, Michigan. Born on July 29, 1955, in Montgomery, West Virginia, Preston was a man whose life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering spirit of generosity.
Preston's journey began in the rolling hills of West Virginia, but it was in Bay City, Michigan, where he spent his final moments, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 51 years, Karen Taylor, and their three devoted sons, James (April) Taylor, David (Autumn) Taylor, and Mark (Tabitha) Taylor. Preston's legacy continues through his four grandchildren: Shawn, Landon, Haileieh, and Bella, who will miss their grandfather's wisdom and gentle presence. He is also survived by his brother William. Preston's life was preceded in death by his infant brother David and his parents, William and Anna Hope (Boone) Taylor.
A proud graduate of Whitmer High School, Preston received a State of Ohio Vocational Certification in Electronics, a field that would define his professional life. His thirst for knowledge was unquenchable, leading him to pursue career-specific training throughout his life, ensuring he remained at the forefront of his trade.
Preston's career was as diverse as it was distinguished. He began with Toledo TV and Electronics, where his innate understanding of electronics quickly became apparent. His career path led him to Jackson, Michigan, to work on sonar buoys, and then to Caro, Michigan, for automotive fuel systems. He delved into the intricacies of automotive assembly robot systems, and his expertise later pivoted towards the medical field, where he worked on machines that produced refilled syringe and IV medications, as well as medical training simulator mannequins. Preston's professional journey was marked by extensive travel, taking him to six countries and 49 states, where he left an indelible mark on the many lives he touched.
A devout Christian, Preston lived his life in accordance with his faith, exemplifying the virtues of kindness, patience, and humility. He was a man who found solace in the quiet moments of life, whether it be strumming his guitar, sitting by a campfire under the stars, or patiently waiting for a deer during hunting season. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his passion for fixing things. Preston was a skilled woodworker and a handyman extraordinaire, always ready to lend a hand with any mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issue that arose.
Described as intelligent, generous, and creative, Preston's inventive mind and resourceful nature were a blessing to all who knew him. His ability to solve complex problems was only surpassed by his willingness to share his knowledge with others.
Preston Lee Taylor lived a life rich in experience and love, leaving a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and ingenuity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Preston, we celebrate a life well-lived, one that was full of purpose, passion, and an unending desire to make the world a better place.
