Dan retired after 40+ years from Huron Castings, Inc in 2019. He made the most of his retirement traveling and vacationing with family, cousins, kids and friends, enjoying new places and new people. He spent many years riding motorcycles with his wife and a great group of friends taking many trips together.
Dan was very active in his community with years of coaching T-ball, baseball, peewee football, and soccer starting when his son was playing and continuing on years later, giving his time and encouragement to countless kids. He loved sports and was very knowledgeable about most of them; always having a game on at the house. He was active in the Huron Youth Center being President for 24 years. He could always be found in the concession stand, helping the community. At home, Dan had a love for cooking and canning. Always enjoying good food and it took some time but he started to enjoy wine as much as a good Smithwick’s!
He had a love of golfing and could be found most days on the course. He was active in golf leagues at his home course, Century Oaks, playing on multiple leagues. When not playing on the leagues, he was out on the course with friends and family. He was involved with fun nights and helped out in any way he could. He loved the camaraderie and the feeling of extended family.
He will be remembered most for his kind smile, quick wit and love for his family and friends.
