Ronald Remer

Obituary of Ronald Lee Remer

Ronald Lee Remer, Sr., affectionately known as Ron to family and friends, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at the age of 82, in his hometown of Saginaw, Michigan. Born on May 8, 1943, to Dorothy and Rheinhold Remer, Ron was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, where he cultivated a life rich in family, work, and community.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Judy Waltraud (Rapp), with whom he shared countless memories and adventures. Together, they raised a family that includes their daughter, Janice (Michael) Ruhlig, and son, Ronald Jr (Anite). Ron was a cherished grandfather to Tennison, Ronald III (Hannah), and Brooke, and a proud great-grandfather to Camden and Layne. He also leaves behind his sisters, Vickie and Raenean, his brother, Ford, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss his presence deeply. Ron was predeceased by his daughter, Rebecca, his parents, Dorothy and Rheinhold Remer, his grandparents, Walter and Robina Keene, his in-laws, Wilhelm and Emma Rapp, and his brothers, Drew, Ricky, and Terry, as well as many aunts and uncles.

Ron's journey through life was marked by a strong work ethic and a dedication to service. After graduating from Saginaw High School, he proudly served his country stationed in Germany as a Spec 5 in the 3rd 37th Armor Division in the Army. His commitment to providing for his family led him to a career as a production worker at General Motors and as a waste management collector. Ron's early years working on a farm instilled in him a love for the outdoors and an appreciation for hard work.

A man of faith, Ron lived his life grounded in Christian values, which guided him in all his endeavors. He was known for his handy and creative nature, often found in his workshop crafting beautiful woodworking pieces. His talents were a highlight at local bazaars, which he enjoyed attending with his wife, Judy. Music from the 50s and 60s filled their home, bringing joy and nostalgia to family gatherings.

Generosity was second nature to Ron; he loved gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor with neighbors and friends. Cooking was another passion, and he took great pleasure in preparing meals for his children and grandchildren, ensuring that family traditions and recipes were passed down through the generations.

Ron will be remembered as a man who built a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and generosity. His unassuming nature and the ability to find joy in the simple things in life were lessons he imparted to all who knew him. Ron's memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family and the many lives he touched.
