Obituary of Michael Frances West

Michael Francis West “Mike”, age 76, went to his eternal home on January 5, 2026. He was at home surrounded by his loved ones. He fought long and hard with his illness of end stage kidney failure which was an inherited illness.  He fought hard to encourage his children and grandchildren that they too could live a full life.

Michael was born in Flint, MI on November 17, 1949 to Stanley and Vera (Christner) West. His sister Mary Marshall. He graduated from Atherton High school. He loved cars and antique automobiles. He restored a 1933 Ford Coup which he was proud of.

Mike worked at Genesee Welding delivering oxygen tanks to businesses and to those dependent on oxygen. He would go out even in bad weather to make sure his clients in need of oxygen did not go without.

Mike was a long-distance semi-truck owner/operator for over 40 years. He logged more than four million miles delivering products for consumers. They traveled from Michigan and Florida to enjoy sunshine and each other.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Stanley and Vera West; his sister, Mary Marshall; daughter, Margaret Powers; and grandson, Grant Kheno.

Mike is survived by his wife, Catherine A. West; son, Timothy West (Renae); daughter, Amy Beach (Deano); and George Kheno II (Shannon); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
