Thomas Krzewinski

Obituary of Thomas John Krzewinski

Thomas John Krzewinski, affectionately known as Tom to his friends and loved ones, passed away in the comforting surroundings of the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center's Community Living Center in Saginaw, MI, on January 8, 2026. Born in Bay City, MI, on April 2, 1943, Tom's life was a testament to his humor, generosity, and indomitable spirit.

Tom's journey through life was marked by his dedication to service and community. After graduating from Bay City Central High School, he answered the call of duty and served his country as an engineering equipment repairman in the 593rd Engineering Company of the U.S. Army from 1963-1966, including a tour of duty in South Korea during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service continued long after his military days, as he retired from General Motors after 30 years of dedicated service. His work ethic and camaraderie with his colleagues were unmatched.

Beyond his professional life, Tom was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), where he participated in many honor guard duties, paying respect to his fellow servicemen and women. He was also a devoted Hospice volunteer, offering comfort and support to patients during their most challenging times. His involvement in the International Association for Near-Death Studies reflected his deep interest in the spiritual aspects of life and the afterlife.

Tom's zest for life was evident in his younger years when he enjoyed dancing with Jacquelyn, his beloved late wife, and socializing with friends over a game of cards. Known for his playful nature, Tom earned the nickname "Tom the Turkey" for his penchant for teasing and playing light-hearted tricks on those around him. Yet, it was his generosity that truly defined him, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his three children, Nancy (Mike) McQuarter, Kristine (Todd) Rodgers, and Steven Krzewinski; his grandchildren, Danielle O'Hare, Nicole (Jason) Klopf, Amy (Christian) Clark, and Calvin Adamczyk; and three great-grandchildren, Lane Helmreich, Grayson, and Bennett Klopf. Tom's family was the pride and joy of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Tom was a man who could light up a room with his humor and warm presence. Described by many as funny, generous, and spirited, he left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. The staff at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, particularly the Community Living Center, provided incredible care and support during his final days. Their kindness and compassion were a great comfort to Tom and his family.

As we remember Tom, we reflect on the words of Albert Einstein, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." Tom embodied this sentiment, living for his family, his friends, and his country with unwavering dedication and love.

Today we bid farewell to a remarkable man, whose legacy of service, laughter, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Thomas John Krzewinski will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will forever be cherished. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Tom will be laid to rest with military honors alongside his beloved late wife at the Great Lakes National Cemetery on April 2, 2026.  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
