Obituary of Lauree Dee Montney
Lauree Dee Campbell Montney, age 67, of Clare, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home on January 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer.
Lauree was born on August 22, 1958, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Delores McKim and Bill Campbell. She grew up in Waterford, Michigan, building a life rooted in family, friendship, and strength, eventually making her home in Clare, Michigan, where she spent her later years close to the people she loved most.
Lauree worked for many years at Ford Motor Company, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication before retiring. She was hardworking, funny, and always made the most of life whenever she could. Her love, humor, and strength touched everyone who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt by all whose lives she blessed.
She loved golfing, fishing, playing video poker and Words With Friends, spending time with friends at the bar sharing laughter, stories, and a nice cold Budweiser, and most of all, being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
Lauree is survived by her children, Kristen (James) Hilyard and Sid (Casey) Montney; her beloved grandchildren, Kelsee Hilyard, James Hilyard Jr., and Riley Hilyard; and her great-grandchild, James “Jay” Hilyard III. She is also survived by her siblings, Frankie Natwick and Arlene Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delores McKim and Bill Campbell, her stepfather, Kenny McKim, and her siblings, Tammy Carter, Bill Campbell Jr., and Mike Campbell.
Lauree will be remembered for her everlasting smile, laughter, hippie spirit, and the way she showed up for the people she cared about. She lived with heart, strength, and joy, and her legacy will live on through her family and the many friends who loved her.
