Obituary of Gail Pendell Hale
Gail Susan Pendell Hale, age 72, passed away on January 23, 2026, at Mt. Pleasant Comfort Care in Mt. Pleasant Michigan.
Gail was born on November 1, 1953, in Grand Haven Michigan, to Howard and Mary (Hinkle) Pendell. Gail and her husband Paris Copeman of 23 years, resided in Rosebush Michigan for the past 25 years living her life connected to her family, her community, and her work in service to others.
She graduated from Muskegon High School with the class of 1971 and eventually went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University. Gail dedicated her career to social work and public service, driven by compassion, determination, and a strong belief in helping others. Later in life, she returned to school and completed a master’s degree in administration-something she proudly did simply to prove to herself that she could.
Gail was a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Sarah and Rod Mizer of St. Louis, Michigan, and Joshua and Valarie Hale of Huntsville, Alabama. She leaves behind her grandchildren Jacob and Kaetryianna, along with her bonus grandchildren Heaven, Taylor, Zachary, and Cameron. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, who continued, and gave true meaning to her cherished title of “Gigi.”
She is also survived by her brothers, William and Darlene Pendell of Austin, Texas; David and Linda Pendell of Bloomington, Illinois; John Pendell of Trenton, Michigan; and Steven Pendell of DeKalb, Illinois, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gail will be remembered for her free spirit, strength, perseverance, sharp wit, and the pride she took in her accomplishments and her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her work and her unwavering love for those closest to her.
Gail was preceded in death by her husband Paris Copeman, her parents Howard and Mary Pendell, and her sister-in-law Jean Pendell.
Per Gail’s wishes a cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life and luncheon on Sunday March 1st, 2026, at 2pm at the Mt. Pleasant Eagles 4463, in Mt. Pleasant Michigan.
