Obituary of Bonnie Jean Johnson
Bonnie J. (Long-Heinzman) Johnson 92 of Bay City, MI formerly of Quanicassee passed away quietly on February 27, 2026, at Bay McLaren Hospital.
She was born May 4,1933 in Denmark Township to Clifton and Melva (Hill) Proctor.
She attended Akron High School and graduated in 1951. Soon after she married her high school sweetheart Robert Long. They enjoyed 37 years and 3 children together until his death in 1988.
Bonnie held a variety of jobs but retired from Bay City Times as the District Manager of the Thumb area.
She enjoyed traveling, casinos, camping, fishing, painting pictures and gardening.
Bonnie is survived by her brother William Proctor (Pam McNally), 3 children: Sandra Curtis of Hemlock, Judith Anderson of Quanicassee and James Long, also of Quanicassee. Grandchildren: Shawn (Angila) Heinitz of Vassar, John Curtis of Hemlock, Melissa Long of Traverse City, Ryan Long of Quanicassee and Shawn Anderson Lawrie of North Carolina. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as many dear and lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by Edgar Heinzman (husband) and Harold Johnson (husband), Eileen (sister) and Norbert Wardin (brother-in-law), Carol Proctor (sister-in-law), Nancy Long (daughter in law) and Daniel (Andy) Anderson (son in law).
A memorial luncheon will be held on March 23, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall at St. Lukes United Methodist Church located at 206 Schuermann St. Essexville, MI 48732
