Obituary of Brian Louis Smith

Brian Louis Smith Sr. of Vassar, Michigan passed away on February 28, 2026. He was born on October 26,1954 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Louis & Madeline Smith. 

Brian is lovingly survived by his wife, Debbie; his son Brian Smith Jr.; his daughter, Selena (Brian) Goda; and his stepsons Jeremy Bellamy and Marc Williams. He leaves behind many grandchildren—Miranda & Kirsten Smith, Alyssa, Makayla, Jeremy, Jenna, Tommy, & Emily Bellamy and Katlyn Feley —as well as his great-grandson, Valentino Smith.  He is also survived by his siblings, Sherrill Wolpert, Annette Eberstein, and Todd (Hannah) Smith; brother‑in‑law, Scott McCrumb; sisters‑in‑law, Sharon Vasicek, Kelly (Tracy) Jackson, and Kim (Bill) Horton; along with several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends who will deeply miss him.  Brian was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Smith; his sister, Gayle Smith; and his brother‑in‑law, Dan McCrumb. 

After 30½ years of dedicated service, Brian retired from Buick. He had a passion for the outdoors—he loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. Brian took great pride in caring for his yard, enjoyed driving his tractor, and found joy in camping. A proud member of the Vassar Eagles, he served on the board and completed multiple terms as president. 

More than anything, Brian cherished his family. His love, humor, and steady presence will be remembered always.
