Obituary of Michael Martin Mullally

Mullally, Michael Martin

Zilwaukee, Michigan

Loving husband, father, grandfather (Baba), and great-grandfather Michael Martin Mullally passed away at home surrounded by love on March 10, 2026 at the age of 79. He was born September 15, 1946 to the late John and Mary (Vermette) Mullally of Mt. Morris, Michigan and married Mary Ellen (Champagne) Mullally on January 24, 1970. Mike leaves behind his children, Michael (Sana) Mullally, Laura (Brad) Gipson, and Katie (Ryan) Conley. Survivors also include grandchildren, Cassandra (Brian), Abigail, Myles (Tracy), Bradley (Gillian), Briar, Miranda (Ethan), Xander, Emily, Claudia, and Ronan; 6 great-grandchildren, Riven, Raiden, Delilah, Gavin, Willow, and Hayden; sister, Sr. Ellen Mullally, brother, Joe Mullally; and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his brothers; John Mullally, James Mullally, and Tom Mullally; sisters Kathleen Mullally, Sr. Agnes Mullally, Alice Manning, and Mary Margaret Poletti; sisters-in-law Sharon Mullally and Carol Mullally; and brothers-in-law John Manning, Richard Poletti, and Arthur Craney.

Mike graduated from St. Mary’s high school in 1965 in Mt. Morris; following this he joined the Marine Corps from 1966–1969 where he served as an ammo tech in Vietnam. Among several jobs he was a house builder and then worked at Saginaw Steering Gear (later Delphi) as a pipefitter, steamfitter, and plumber for 34 years and received his associate degree from Delta College along the way. He was happily and luckily married to Mary Ellen for 52 years. He enjoyed shooting at Camp Perry National Matches, volunteering at the Saginaw VA for over a decade, and was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Marine Corps League of John C. Rock #902 and Edson Kline VanSlyke #1423, and the Devil Dogs of Flint. He was a proud Marine, always volunteered, and received numerous awards including Pound Dog of the Year and Marine of the Year at detachment level. He lived for his family, was an avid reader, an endless source of knowledge, and is missed terribly. He leaves behind a legacy of love, determination, strength, and compassion through his children and grandchildren.
