Obituary of Leota Alberta Brechtelsbauer

Leota (Lee) A. Brechtelsbauer

Merrill, Michigan

Passed away on March 26, 2026 at 79 years old. She was born on November 8, 1946 in Saginaw, MI to the late Edwin Royal Danks and Thelma Marjorie (Danks) Williams.

She had a vibrant spirit and a love for fun- whether cheering on the Detroit Red Wings, decorating beautiful cakes, or gathering with friends and family for Monday night card club. A lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, she took great pride in serving as President of the Danny Van fan club, a role that perfectly reflected her enthusiasm and joy for music.

She dedicated many years of her life to her work at McCray Press, where she was known for her strong work ethic and commitment.

She found her Highschool sweetheart Allen Brechtelsbauer after years of being apart. Together with their families they devoted their lives to one another on September 24th 1988. Together they built a life filled with love and memories that she continued to cherish long after his passing on July 6th 2011.

Together, they built a loving blended family with Daughters Donna Wallschlager, Denise Eickmeyer (Kevin), Anne Cradit (Russ), Melissa Richards and Step-Son Brian Brechtelsbauer (Angie).

In addition to her children, she is lovingly remembered by her 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, as well as her Sister, Martie Abbott; Sisters in-law, Lori Danks and Dee Dee Danks; and Brother in-law, Warren Wyatt. Along with Many Nieces and Nephews.

She is reunited in passing with her Husband, Allen Brechtelsbauer; her sisters, Sharon Elliott, Jeanette Wyatt, Peggy Willaims, Sally Grappin and Catherine Dyer; her brothers, Joe Danks, Ed Danks, Skip Williams; her grandson, Allen Wallschlager; her great-grandsons, Ian and Parker Earle. Along with her cherished companion Buddy the cat.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to her daughter, Anne Cradit, for the loving and devoted care she provided.

Funeral Service will take place on April 18, 2026 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 6100 Perrine Road, Midland Michigan, with Pastor Dan Officiating. A luncheon will follow. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to Amazing Grace Animal Shelter.
