Obituary of Belia S. Tafoya
Belia Tafoya, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, at Stone Crest Assisted Living in Freeland, Michigan, after a long and well-lived life.
Belia was born on November 26, 1935, in Saginaw, Michigan, and she spent her life rooted in the values of family, hard work, and quiet strength. She attended St. Joseph High School in Saginaw, Michigan.
Belia was employed by Delphi Automotive, where she dedicated herself to her work and was respected for her dependable nature and strong work ethic. Belia found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life, especially knitting and crocheting. These interests reflected her patience, creativity, and the love she poured into the things she made by hand.
Family was at the center of Belia’s life, and she treasured the many relationships that surrounded her. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas, and by her siblings, William, Raymond, and Julian Soria, Delores Lucio, Mary Kapp, Belvina “Rosa” Gomez, and Matilda “Tillie” Dale.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Archie Dale. Belia leaves behind her children, Dennis, Darryl and Kathleen, and Doreen Tafoya, who will carry forward her memory with love and gratitude. She was a beloved grandmother to Anthony and Stephanie Tafoya, Andrew and his girlfriend Hailey Volmer, Ashley Tafoya, Gabrielle and Joshua Tolbert, Shelby and Stephen Gould, and Christopher Goergen and Austin Napora. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Hudson and Hayes Tafoya, and Tanner and Carter Gould, all of whom brought her great joy
Belia’s life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and the enduring strength of family bonds.
A heartfelt thank you to the caregivers from Stone Crest Assisted Living for the love they showed mom over the past two years.
