Obituary of Mary Lou Cole
Mary Lou Cole, known lovingly to family and friends as Mary Lou, passed away on May 13, 2026, in Michigan at the age of 85.
She was born on May 22, 1940, in Greenville, and from the beginning of her life she carried the warmth, strength, and kindness that would come to define her. Mary Lou was a loving, kind, and funny woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. She lived her life with a generous spirit and a steady devotion to the people she loved, and she will be remembered for the many ways she made others feel welcome, valued, and cared for.
Mary Lou treasured her family above all else. She is survived by Patricia Prescott and (Chuck), Randy and (Brenda) Prescott, Wesley and (Tracy) Prescott, Tammy and (Chris) Wolverton, and Charles and (Amber) Prescott. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom brought her great pride and happiness. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with them, sharing stories, laughter, meals, and the simple moments that become the most cherished memories.
She had many interests that reflected her gentle and caring nature. Mary Lou loved her dogs dearly and found companionship and comfort in their loyal presence. She enjoyed crocheting and took pride in the time and care she put into her work. She also loved cooking and preparing meals that brought people together, especially during cookouts where family and friends could gather, laugh, and enjoy one another’s company. These were the moments Mary Lou valued most, and they reflected the way she lived her life, with love, hospitality, and a deep appreciation for togetherness.
Mary Lou will be remembered for her loving heart, her kind spirit, and her wonderful sense of humor. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Mary was preceded in death by her sons Wayne and Micheal Prescott and daughter Lori Jacobs.
